Avalon is Western North Carolina’s only high elevation and high-speed fiber optic community just 10 minutes from historic downtown Waynesville and 30 minutes from Asheville. This 415-acre mountain top community is bordered by wooded forest and ridge top pasture land permanently protected from future development by the North American Land Trust as a conservation property. Avalon sits just above Lake Junaluska with elevations from 3345 ft to 4115 ft and has long been regarded to have some of the most panoramic long-range views anywhere in Western North Carolina with iconic peaks including the world-famous Cold Mountain, Mount Pisgah, Balsam Mountain Range and the Soco Mountain Range all from within our community. The community master plan includes thoughtfully planned hiking trails along waterfalls and streams. There are neighborhood parks, an overlook with views of Crabtree Valley, gathering spots, a reflection pond and a recently completed covered community pavilion.
